Parr honored by OATS

Thursday, May 22, 2008

Irene Parr, of Wheaton, has been selected as the OATS Volunteer of the Year for Barry County. Parr began riding the OATS bus in 1997. Over the last three years, she has also served as the Barry County OATS Committee treasurer. Parr encourages other local residents to ride an OATS bus due to the economic benefits. "Gas is so expensive. I can't drive from Wheaton to Cassville for $2, and I can't drive to Springfield for $6 or Joplin for $4," said Parr. "Those are the suggested donations, but we don't turn anyone away." In addition to the economic value of OATS, Parr said she enjoys visiting with her fellow bus riders. When she is not visiting with her friends on the local bus, Parr enjoys crocheting, knitting and piecing quilt tops.

I wuld like to know if Irene Parr (4/9/2009 issue) is kin to my ancestors from the 1850 time frame who lived in Cassville.
