Raymond Byron Phariss, 103, of Monett, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008, at his residence in Monett.

He was born Aug. 19, 1904, in Verona, the son of Charles Ether and Nora Estella Jones Phariss.

He was a farmer, a member of the First Christian Church in Monett. He was a commissioner for Kings Prairie Road District for 40 years. he served on the board of directors for MFA Farmers Exchange in Monett, and was on the REA board both local and regional for 25 years. He served on the Barry County welfare advisory board, the FHA board in Cassville and also the University of Missouri experiment station.

He married Lois Lucille Buehler in 1932 at Exeter, and she survives.

Additional survivors include: two daughters, Noralee Faulkner, and her husband, Charles, of Shell Knob, and Noveta Richardson and her husband, Clovis, of Little Rock, Ark.; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, with Rev. Hubert Lines officiating. Interment was at Spring River Cemetery, Verona.

Memorials may be made to the Kings Prairie Community Association or First Christian Church, Monett.
