Betty J. Burns, 79, of Wheaton, passed away May 15, 2008, at her home. She was born July 8, 1928, in San Francisco, Calif., to the late William and Regina (Nelson) Craig. On June 6, 1946, she married Darrell L. Burns, a young marine from Alabama, who had recently returned to the States having served during World War II in Okinawa and other South Pacific Islands. To this union six children were born. In 1961, they bought a dairy and poultry farm east of Wheaton where she lived until her death. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Burns, who passed away on March 4, one son, David, her parents, William and Regina Craig and her brother, William Craig.

Survivors include: two daughters, Darelyn and her husband, bob Cooper, and Diane and her husband, Larry Prewitt; three sons, Craig and his wife, Angela, Steve and his wife, Julie, and Gary Burns, all of Wheaton; her sister Violet Platt, of Canyonville, Ore.; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 16 in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Burial was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Butterfield.
