James Carlton Holm-strom, 68, of Golden, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008, in his home.
He was born May 24, 1939, in Holcomb, Kan., the youngest son of Lawrence and Margaret (Wagner) Holm-strom. In June, 1962, he was united in marriage to Mary M. Miller, who preceded him in death in March, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
On April 26, 1997, in Baldwin City, Kan., he married Patricia Haskard Hinkle, who survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Steven, of Altadena, Calif., and Christopher, and his wife, Tammy, of Columbia, Tenn.; a brother, Charles and his wife, Ruth, of Midland, Texas; two step-daughters, Cindy McCoy and Kathy Stevens, of Lawrence, Kan.; three grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
He graduated from Southwestern University in Winfield, Kan. He worked as a teacher and coached sports in Colorado and Kansas. In the early 1980s he started his own business as a lumber broker, retiring in 1999, when he and Patricia moved to Golden.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 20, 2008, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008, in Partridge Community Cemetery, Partridge, Kan.
