Chamber tourney to be held Saturday

Thursday, May 22, 2008

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce's first annual four-person scramble golf tournament will be held Friday, May 30 at the Cassville Golf Course.

"This golf tournament is a way for the chamber to get the whole community involved," said Susie Jacobs, chamber president. "We're encouraging everyone who enjoys golf to put together a four-person team and come out and join us. We really want this to be a fun event."

Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and first place finishers. In addition, $50 in Cassville cash will be handed out for longest drive on #2, crazy line #13 and closest to the pin on all par-3's.

The chamber will also be allowing golfers to use a five iron on hole #5 for a $5 fee.

"Instead of hitting a driver, they'll hit a five iron and wherever that ball goes, they'll tee it up and hit that ball with a driver," said Jacobs. "This is just another way to make things fun."

Registration for the tournament will take place from noon until 12:30 p.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Awards will be presented at 5 p.m.

The entry fee per golfer is $50, which includes cart and green fees. The chamber is also looking for businesses that would be interested in hole sponsorships.
