Local highways closed due to flooding

Thursday, March 20, 2008

Flooding that occurred in Barry County on March 18 caused the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) to close Highway 39 at the junction of Highway 248 and portions of Highways U, C, Y and 76/86. According to a report released by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), one shelter was temporarily opened and two water rescues were conducted in Barry County after heavy rains caused water levels to rise swiftly on Tuesday. In the photo above, MoDOT crews can be seen accessing a flooded area on Highway 76/86 south of Cassville.
