Verna May Casad, 63, of Purdy, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2008, at her home in Purdy.

She was born Sept. 21, 1944, in Butler, Okla. She was the daughter of T.M. and Bessie (Brown) Ray. She grew up in Oklahoma and Missouri. She moved to Lompoc, Calif., where she met her husband, Golmer E. Casad. They were married on May 11, 1963, in Lompoc, Calif., and he survives. They moved to Sandy, Ore., where she raised her family and returned to Purdy, in 1995.

Additional survivors include: one son, Colin Casad, of Oregon; one daughter, Virginia Foster, of Purdy; two brothers, Pete Ray, of Clinton, Okla., and Melvin Ray, of Foss, Okla.; six sisters, Delsie Martin, of Norman, Okla., Muriel Ament, of Crane, Sallie Lushinko, of Purdy, Angeline Ray, of Clatsanie, Ore., Wilma Nichols, of Burns Flat, Okla., and Lavone Jones, of Noble, Okla.; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Ray and Gus Ray.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Monett Odd Fellows Cemetery in Monett, with words of comfort spoken by Mark Moller.

Arrangements are under the direction of White Funeral Home in Cassville.
