Firefighters deserve community support

Dear Editor:

I read with great interest about the Jenkins Fire Department. We can tell you how important these fire departments are to the community.

A few weeks ago our house caught on fire in the middle of the night. The Washburn Fire Department was here in minutes. How do you thank these volunteers for saving your home? The roads were icy, but that didn't stop anyone from coming.

We are so lucky that the Washburn Fire Department decided to build a fire station in our area. Please pay your dues. If these men can get out of bed in the middle of the night and drive on ice roads, can't we pay our dues. Make sure your smoke alarm works. It could save your life.

Thanks again to the Washburn Volunteer Fire Department.
