Lora Marie Forbragd, 90, of Neosho, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, in Medicalodge of Neosho.
She was born Aug. 9, 1917, in a log house near Lamar, Okla., the daughter of Robert Jefferson and Ethel Mae (Norris) Upchurch. On April 6, 1940, in Springdale, Ark., she married James "Jim" Barton Atkinson and to this union two children were born. Jim passed away on Sept. 8, 1970. Later she married Clyde Ryan, who is deceased. She was then married to William Forbragd, who died Jan. 17, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, two sisters, and three brothers.
Survivors include: one son, Robert Louis Atkinson, and his wife, Judy of Neosho; one daughter, Betty Jean England, and her husband, Teddy, of Neosho; one brother, Howard Upchurch, of Holden-ville, Okla,; one sister, Norma Summy, and her husband, Tommy, of Holdenville, Okla,; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She grew up and received her education in Oklahoma. After she married Jim Atkinson in 1940 they moved to Washburn, where they owned Atkinson's General Store and operated it until 1956. From 1960 until 1975 she operated a beauty shop in Washburn. She resided in Cassville prior to moving to Neosho.
She was a member of Cassville First Baptist Church, Celeste Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star for 55 years, being Past worthy matron, serving in 1956 and 1957. She originally joined the Washburn chapter on May 21, 1953.
Graveside services were held Saturday in Washburn Prairie Cemetery, Washburn, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. James Weaver conducted the services.
