John Homer McKee, 80, of Purdy, died on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at Cox South in Springfield.
He was born on Oct. 16, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Lloyd Kenneth McKee and Jetta Irene (Chiverton) McKee. He worked most of his life as a sheet metal worker and was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #36 in Iowa. He owned and operated JC Radio in Purdy for the last 33 years. He married Dora Jean Bartholomew in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Jan. 22, 1949. They later divorced and she preceded him in death on Aug. 5, 1997.
survivors include: one son, Dennis Lee McKee, of Fort Madison, Iowa; four daughters, Delores Jean Gilando, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Suann J. Lawson, of Morrill, Kan., Luann K Davis, of Bettondorf, Iowa, and Becky Jean McFeeters, of Hiawatha, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth McKee, and two granddaughters.
Funeral service were held Sunday at White Funeral Home in Cassville, with words of comfort spoken by Darrell Obermann. Graveside services were held Tuesday at the Linnwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with Rev. Del Bare officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of White Funeral Home, Cassville.
