Legion baseball meeting to be held

American Legion baseball coaches will host a meeting for prospective players and their parents at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28 at Papa Vito's restaurant on Highway 248 in Cassville.

Jerry Marple, along with coaches Jeremy Marple and Roger Brock, will be attending the meeting to discuss the Legion baseball program. Manager Pete Landstad, who is beginning his fourth year with the program, will also be in attendance.

Legion baseball competition is open to players born on or after Jan. 1, 1989. Original or state-certified birth certificates must be submitted by May 20. Team tryouts are schedule for 3 p.m. on April 13 at the Cassville High School baseball field.

According to Jerry Marple, parents are a vital part of the program and are encouraged to attend the Feb. 28 meeting.
