Lale Eugene Albertin, 80, of Shell Knob, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, in his home.

He was born May 22, 1927, in Woodruff, Kan., the son of John Merlin and Inez Rose (Day) Albertin. On Dec. 31, 1948, in Desoto, Kan., he was united in marriage to Annabelle M. Cox, who survives.

Additional survivors include: a son, Dennis Albertin, and his wife, Cindy, of Fayetteville, Ark.; three daughters, Jennie L. Matlock, and her husband, Wes, of Goshen, Ark., Janette S. Connell, and her husband, William, of North Pole, Alaska, and Diane K. Kelley and her husband, Jonathan, of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Marjorie LaVern Sharp, of Fayetteville, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He received his education in Desoto, Kan., then entered the United States Army and served in Germany during World War II. He became a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union #714. In 2004, he moved from West Fork, Ark., to Shell Knob to make his home. He was of the Christian faith and a lifetime member of the VFW.

Graveside services with military honors were held Thursday, in Fayetteville National Cemetery, Fayette-ville, Ark., under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
