Leonard W. "Len" Daugherty, 84, of Eagle Rock, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, in Regency Hospital, Fayette-ville, Ark.
He was born May 18, 1923, in Crane, the son of LeRoy and Elnora (Priest) Daugherty. He was united in marriage to Winifred "Winnie" Mulwee on Oct. 6, 1945, in Eureka Springs, Ark. She preceded him in death on Jan. 23, 2005. He was also preceded in death by one son, Ronald Daugherty, his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: one son, David Daugherty, and his wife, Debra, of Nixa; three daughters, Shereen Hindman, of Golden, Lynette Thorne, and her husband, Rob, of Golden, and Terri Roetto and her husband, Dennis, of Bentonville, Ark.; one brother, Ernest Daugherty, of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Eva Bogdenoff, of Springfield; 13 grandchildren; and 17 greatgrandchildren.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy. He and Winnie lived in Orrondo, Wash., where he was a general foreman for one of the largest apple growers in the Pacific Northwest. In 1950, they moved to Yakima, Wash., and continued apple ranching. In 1953, he was ordained into the Pentecostal Faith by the "Open Bible Standard" affiliation. He retired from active ministry in 1963, after 10 years of traveling evangelistic service and settled his family near Golden.
He was a member of the Shell Knob, Golden, Mano Lions Club. he later became governor of 26 E District.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Jim Clay conducted the services. Burial with military honors were held Tuesday in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
