Boys Action

• Trojans take first at Sarcoxie. The Southwest Trojans brought home the title at the Sarcoxie Tournament this week. Southwest beat Sarcoxie 69-57, College Heights 67-50 and New Covenant 53-41 to sweep play. Codie Harmon and Levi Roberts both led Southwest, averaging 17 points in each contest this week. Caleb Mitchell averaged 15 points.
• Purdy soars over Bulldogs, falls to Diamond. The Purdy Eagles had an up-and-down week. The Eagles beat inner-county rival Wheaton 69-52 but lost to Diamond 41-48. Against Wheaton, the Eagles got out to a quick start, leading 37-17 at half and pulling off the victory from there. Chris "Nothing but Business" Bennett led scoring for Purdy with 25 points while Kevin Terry added 19, Blake Williams tallied 18 and Mason Roller had 16 in the win. Facing Diamond, Purdy had a tough time getting warmed up with Diamond leading 13-4 after one quarter of play. The Eagles cut the deficit to two at the end of the third quarter, but Diamond rallied to win. Roller led scoring in the contest with 17.
• Wheaton can't ground Comets. The Marionville Comets slowly pulled away against the Wheaton Bulldogs in a non-conference match-up. Marionville led by only five at half but outscored Wheaton 14-7 in the third quarter to earn a 52-38 win. Jon Pendergraft led Wheaton scorers with 18 points.

Girls Action

• Lady Eagles win Galena Tourney. The Purdy Lady Eagles took home the first place trophy at the Galena Tournament this week. Purdy defeated Reeds Spring 56-26, Spokane 64-46 and Clever 63-40 to win the competition. Senior Avery Roller led scoring for the week, nabbing an average of 22 points a night. Audrey Patton scored 19 per game and Shelby White averaged 11.
• Wheaton falls to Spokane. The Lady Bulldogs fell to Spokane this week in the Galena Tournament. After falling behind, Wheaton rallied to take an 18-17 half-time lead but could not sustain it. The Lady Bulldogs were outscored 16-8 in the third quarter and fell 37-46. Haley Goostree led all scorers with 15 points.
