Girls game report
Lady Eagles take down Sarcoxie. The Purdy girls' team soared over Sarcoxie last week 79-41. The Lady Eagles took a 26-11 lead after one quarter of play and never looked back. Audrey Patton led the squad with 24 points.
Exeter edges Lady Trojans. In an Ozark 7 Conference match-up, Exeter did just enough to get by Southwest. Coming out of a 23-23 tie at halftime, the Lady Tigers outscored Southwest by two in each of the final quarters, pulling off a 50-46 victory. Whitney Edie led Exeter with 29 points. Chelsea Sneed had 13 for Southwest.
Boys game report
Purdy finishes fourth. The Purdy Eagles ended their holiday break with a fourth place finish in the Southwest Tournament. The Eagles lost 56-67 to Eureka Springs, Ark., in the semi-finals before dropping the third place game to hot-shooting Pierce City 84-70. Blake Williams had 19 for Purdy in the Eureka Springs contest and Mason Roller tallied 25 against Pierce City.
Bulldogs take sixth. The Wheaton Bulldogs finished the Southwest Tournament with a sixth place finish. Wheaton beat the host Trojans 55-45 in the consolation semi-final and then lost to Cassville 33-45 in the fifth place contest. Jon Pendergraft scored 23 for Wheaton in the first game and Sean Crane poured in 14 in the second.
Southwest places seventh. The Trojans lost their semi-final match-up 45-55 against Wheaton but finished strong with a 59-37 decision over Exeter. Levi Roberts tallied 18 for the Trojans in the semi-final and Josh Hartin tallied 15 in the seventh place contest.
Tigers fall in tournament. The Exeter Tigers had an unsuccessful holiday tournament. Exeter fell to Cassville in the consolation semi-final by a score of 22-54 and then to Southwest in the seventh place game 37-59. Tyler Henderson tallied 11 in the first contest and Keith Hayworth did the same in the second.
