Hubert Dewey "Shorty" Maring, 81, of Washburn, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, in Northwest Medical Center, Bentonville, Ark.

He was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Ballagh, Neb., the son of Dewey Admiral and Hazell Marilla (DeMary) Maring. On Aug. 26, 1944, he was united in marriage to Viola Rockford, who survives.

Additional survivors include: one son, Hubert Duane Maring, of York, Neb.; two daughters, Mary June Logan, of Seligman, and Kathy Jo Maring, of Anderson; three brothers, Logan Maring, of Grand Island, Neb., Raymond Maring, of Overton, Neb., and Marvin Maring, of Callaway, Neb.; one sister, Joyce Snore, of Crete, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons, Kenneth Dale and Richard Dean and two sisters, Vera and Twilla

He received his education in Nebraska. In 1968, he moved to Missouri to make his home. He was a heavy equipment operator, but his love was farming and ranching.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Washburn, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Franky Parsons conducted the services. Burial was at Roller Cemetery, Washburn.
