Mary Frances Spears, 96, of Tyler, Texas, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, in Hospice of East Texas, Tyler, Texas.
She was born April 9, 1911, in Claremore, Okla., the daughter of Otto Wilson and Blanche (Stacy) Turner. On Aug. 2, 1934, in Bloomingdale, Ind., she was united in marriage to Charles Ainsworth Spears, M.D., who preceded her in death on May 7, 2001, after 67 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Louise Henderson and Erma Clark and one brother, Wilson Turner.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Cole, of Sebring, Fla.; three sons, Dr. Charles T. Spears, DVM, of Marion, Ill., John H. Spears and his wife, Linda, of Tyler, Texas, and Joseph W. Spears and his wife, Connie, of Round Rock, Texas; 10 grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and four sisters, Shirley Jeffries and her husband, Norman, of Stillwater, Okla., Janeth Carpenter, of Claremont, Calif., Patricia Sanders, of Stillwater, Okla., and Phyllis Searight and her husband, Tom, of Overland Park, Kan., She received her education in Cassville and was a graduate of Cassville High School. She received her nurses training from City Hospital, St. Louis. In 1972 she retired as a registered nurse. She had resided in Missouri and Illinois prior to moving to Texas. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Tyler, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Cliff Crockett will conduct the services. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
