Ladycats' sluggish start causes loss to Neosho
The Lady Wildcats got off to a sluggish start after their Christmas break this week. Cassville faced host team Neosho in the Neosho tournament and lost 36-69.
Neosho got the ball rolling quickly scoring 13 of the game's first 15 points and out-scoring Cassville 21-8 in the first quarter.
The Ladycats upped their game in quarters two, three and four, but it was not enough to beat the athletic Neosho squad.
Neosho found their stride early and made 8 three-pointers on the night. Savannah Snow led Neosho scoring 20 points, 11 of which came in the first quarter.
Cassville's brightest spot on the evening might have been Gabby LeCompte, a senior, who had not quite found her stroke in the beginning of the season. LeCompte shot over 40 percent from the three-point arc last year, but had seen that production fall off this season.
However, in her past few games, including this one, LeCompte seemed to find some rhythm. She finished the game with 11 points, hitting a trio of three-point shots.
Brittany Vollenwieder also did well. Vollenwieder finished with 13 points for the Wildcats.
Others scoring for Cassville were Marti Richmiller 4, Hannah Elkins 4, Gail Edie 2 and Lindsey Turner 2.
The Ladycats are now 3-7 on the season.
