A pair of Cassville High School seniors have been selected to participate in the fourth annual Southwest All-Stars Game, presented by SGFsoccer.com and the Springfield Soccer Club.
Anthony Larson and Ryan Schlichtman have been chosen for the honor and will represent the Cassville Wildcats soccer team during the game, which will be played June 19, 2008, at the Cooper Soccer Complex in Springfield.
A total of 40 senior players were chosen for the All-Star team from 80 nominations submitted by coaches from across southwest Missouri. The roster includes players representing 21 teams. Schlichtman and Larson were two of 12 Class 2 players chosen for the squad, which also features five Class 1 players and 23 Class 3 players.
Larson earned several post-season honors this season. He was named to the All-District and All-Region first teams and was also named Regional Goalkeeper of the Year.
Schlichtman was also named to the All-District and All-Region first team. He garnered All-State second team honors as well for the second year in a row.
The Cassville Wildcat soccer team, coached by Brian Wilbanks, had a very successful 2007 season. The squad finished fourth in the state with a 22-3 record and also earned a district championship.
According to a press release issued by SGFsoccer.com, the All-Star game will feature he best graduating high school seniors in the region as chosen by Steve Ole Oleson of SGFsoccer.com and Jeremy Alumbaugh of the Springfield Soccer Club.
Nominations were sought from the coaches at 29 boys teams in three classes that play in the southwest Missouri region.
