Adult softball league champions named

The Cassville YMCA has wrapped up its fall adult softball league and champions were named in the co-ed, men's and church divisions.

In the co-ed league, team MASH won the league championship with a 7-2 season record and then went on to win the tournament championship game by defeating Jersey's.

Co-ed league standings were as follows: MASH, 7-2; Jersey's, 6-3; Double Time, 3-6; and Chocolate Thunder, 3-6.

Willis Insurance claimed both the league and tournament championships for the second year in a row in the men's Thursday night league. Willis had another perfect 9-0 record during the season and defeated Le-Ru/Big Dawgs in the tournament championship. This year, Willis outscored its opponents 221 to 45.

Men's league standings: Willis Insurance, 9-0; R.C. Flooring, 8-1; Le-Ru/Big Dawgs, 7-2; Brattin's Tire Service, 6-3; A&B Mowing, 5-4; George's, 3-6; Schreiber, 3-6; A One Pump Service, 3-6; Slinkard's Auto Salvage, 1-8; and Construction Cowboys, 0-9.

The Wheaton United Methodist Church softball team was the league champion with a perfect 7-0 record, and Ridgley Baptist (6-1) claimed the tournament championship in the Saturday night church league play.

Church league standings: Wheaton United Methodist, 7-0; Ridgley Baptist, 6-1; Emmanuel Baptist, 4-3; Lohmer 1, 3-4; Cassville First Baptist, 3-4; Blessing Heights, 2-5; Lohmer 2, 2-5; and Exeter First Baptist, 1-6.

"I want to say thanks to all team that competed and we welcome you back next year," said Larry Boswell, Cassville YMCA program director.

"I also want to give special thanks to Mark and Shari Douglas for their hard work and dedication throughout the season," Boswell added.
