Girls
Purdy knocks off reigning district champs. The Purdy Lady Eagles knocked off McAuley Catholic last Monday 56-42. Tied at 35 after three quarters, the Lady Eagles outscored McAuley 21-7 to end play and come up with the big victory. Audrey Patton led the team with 24 points.
Southwest takes down Sarcoxie. The Southwest Lady Trojans had no trouble with Sarcoxie beating them for the second time this season 75-42. Chelsea Sneed (19), Brittany Clifton (13) and Haley Clifton (10) all scored in double digits for Southwest.
Exeter girls chase off Verona. The Lady Tigers opened up with a 24-10 lead after one quarter and dominated Verona throughout the game. Exeter outscored Verona in all four quarters and won 66-34. Whitney Edie led Exeter with 20 points and Shelby Bowman picked up 15.
Boys
Trojans drop two. The Southwest boys team got off to two slow starts and couldn't make up for it in either contest, losing 70-63 to Galena and 56-47 to McAuley. Caleb Mitch-ell led the team in all facets this week, scoring 36 points and tallying 22 rebounds in the two games. Levi Roberts contributed with 41 points.
Purdy finishes McAuley. It was a sweep this week for the Purdy basketball squads. After the girls team beat the Warriors on Monday, the boys team finished the job, beating McAuley 60-55 on Tuesday. Mason Roller had 28 points in the game followed by Blake Williams who scored 14.
Pierce City steals one from Bulldogs. The Wheaton Bulldogs had it won. Leading 45-43 with a few seconds left in the game, Wheaton was confident, but Jared Frey's three-pointer with one second left helped Pierce City steal a win from the local squad. Jon Pendergraft led Wheaton with 11 points in the game.
