Gerald Edward Cope, 73, of Jenkins, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, in his home.

He was born Oct. 9, 1934, in Aurora, the son of Russell Doris and Clema Jane (Stumpff) Cope. On Oct. 13, 1956, in Bakersfield, Calif., he was united in marriage to Ellen Lue Harkey, who preceded him in death on May 25, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Doris Jean.

Survivors include: two sons, Gregory Cope and his wife, Glenda, of Mt. Vernon, and Tony Cope, and his wife, Diana, of Butterfield; three daughters, Tara Cope of Jenkins, and Karen Cope, of Pleasant Hill, and Dawn Cope, of Cassville; six grandchildren; amd one great grandchild,

He received his education in Arvin, Calif. He graduated from Arvin High School in 1952, then briefly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War before being honorably discharged. Gerald drove a bus for the Cassville school system for 22 years until the fall of 1998 when he retired.

He was a member of Mill Street Church of Christ in Cassville.

Graveside services were held Thursday at Clio Cemetery, Jenkins, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
