Close to 50 Christmas wreaths, centerpieces and trees will be auctioned off this Saturday, Nov. 17 to raise money for college scholarships.
The third annual Crowder College Watley Center's Festival of Wreaths celebration will begin at 6 p.m. at the Roaring River Convention Center on Highway 112. The gala event will include hors d'oeuvres, dancing and music by the Home Town Sound band.
The highlight of the night will be the wreath auction, which begins at 7 p.m. This year, close to 50 area businesses and individuals have donated wreaths for the auction. All money raised will be used to provide scholarships to students attending the Watley Center in Cassville.
The wreaths that will be auctioned off on Saturday can be viewed in advance of the auction at www.crowder.edu.
Last year, the Festival of Wreaths raised $4,500, which was enough to provide eight student scholarships. The planning committee hopes to exceed last year's fundraising total during this year's auction.
"Tickets are available now, and we are inviting everyone to come join us that evening for a fun time for a great cause," said Angela Seymour, director of the Crowder College Watley Center.
"We have all the wreaths, centerpieces and trees and now we need bidders to attend and take home great gifts while providing scholarship money for our local students," added Seymour.
