George Allen Fisher, 84, of Shell Knob, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, in Christian Healthcare Center, Republic.
He was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Wilson, Kan., the first of eight children born to George M. and Edith Meril (Clark) Fisher. On Jan. 10, 1960, in Newton, Kan., he was united in marriage to Mary Francis Palmer, who survives.
Additional survivors include: his children, Sandra Sinclair of Wichita, Kan., Sandy Moore and her husband, Elwyn, of Mesa, Ariz., George Anna Evoy and her husband, David, of Chandler, Ariz., Eddie Fisher and his wife, Adele, of Mesa, Ariz., Randy Fisher, of Newton, Kan.; two brothers, Charles Fisher, of Wichita, Kan., and William Fisher, of Vancouver, Wash.; two sisters, Edith Mae Bilyeu, of Bethany, Okla., and Velma Bennett, of Towanda, Kan.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, David L. Fisher, his parents, two sisters, Marjorie Patterson and Phyllis Wade and a brother, Robert Fisher.
He received his education in Wilson, Kan. In 1943 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. After his discharge in 1946, he established and owned Fisher Café for many years in Wichita, Kan. In 1985, George and Mary moved to Shell Knob to make their home. He was a charter lifetime member of VFW Post 2203, serving as commander two terms.
Funeral services were held Saturday, in Grace Community Fellowship, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Jonathan Brobston conducted the services. Burial with military honors were held at Lake Park Memorial Gardens, Shell Knob.
