The Cassville soccer program continued its winning ways this week beating Carl Junction 2-0 and Neosho 2-1 to boost the Wildcats' record to an unprecedented 16-1 record.
Cassville travelled to Neosho last Tuesday.
The Wildcats took the lead in the game when Ryan Schlichtman found the back of the net in the first half. Cassville's defense shut down Neosho for the rest of the half, and Uziel Franco scored in the second half off an assist by Schlichtman.
Neosho cut the lead, scoring late in the second half, but Cassville's defense halted the Wildcats from scoring again, giving Cassville the 2-1 victory.
"Our defense and goal keeper (Anthony Larson) came up big against Neosho," said Coach Brian Wilbanks.
The Wildcats also hit the road and traveled to Carl Junction last Thursday. The Bulldogs hosted the 'Cats on senior night and fought tough.
Larson and the Cassville defense kept Carl Junction at bay and two first half goals by Schlichtman and Franco gave Cassville the 2-0 win.
Cassville now moves to 16-1 on the regular season. The Wildcats fell out of the top 10 last week in the state ranking after losing to Springfield Catholic. The 'Cats are now effectively tied for 11th in the state with none other then Harrisonville.
Cassville will take on two top opponents this week, hosting New Covenant Academy on Thursday and Joplin on Monday.
The junior varsity team had a tough week, dropping both games to Neosho and Carl Junction.
