Verla Mae Pate, 78, of Stark City, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, in her home.
She was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Fairview, the daughter of Victor and Kathrine (Forsythe) Price. On May 1, 1948, she was united in marriage to John Pate, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Danny and Hughgene and a sister, Nancy Daugherty.
Survivors include: a son, Randall Pate, of Fairview; a daughter, Peggy McDaniel, of Basehor, Kan.; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Pate; one brother, Jerry Price, of Fairview; two sisters, Donna Fairchild, of Glenaire, and Frankie Kimbrough of Drexel; five grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
She received her education in Fairview. For several years she worked as a payroll clerk for banks in the Kansas City area. In 1970 she moved to Stark City and worked for Tysons in Monett for 25 years before retiring.
Memorial services were held Saturday in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.
