Gilbert Stone Padgett, 83, formerly of Jenkins, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at Overland Park Regional Center in Overland Park, Kan.

He was born on Nov. 1, 1923, in Jenkins, the son of Clyde and Erma (Stumpff) Padgett. He was a WW II Army Veteran and was a mechanist most of his life. He married Dorene Sloane on Sept. 2, 1982. She preceded him in death in 2005.

Survivors include: two daughters, Kathy Barr and her husband, George, of Olathe, Kan., and Sue Stapleton, of Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, Lyle Padgett, of Exeter, and Marlin Padgett, of Bakersfield, California; three sisters, Lorian Shadrick, of Bakersfield, Calif., Clara Littick, of Topeka, Kan., and Marie Brown, of Cassville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Padgett, Tim Padgett, and one infant brother.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at the White Funeral Home Cassville, with Minister Roy Lee Criswell officiating with burial at Clio Cemetery in Jenkins.

Arrangements were under the direction of the White Funeral Home, Cassville.
