John Pope Sr., 84, of Jenkins, passed away at his home on Sept. 3, 2007,
He was born on July 19, 1923, in Wilson, Okla., the son of John and Ethel (Coffelt) Pope. On Sept. 4, 1946, he married Annie Pope in Inyokern, Calif. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2007. They moved to the Jenkins area in 1953 from Galveston, Texas, to make their home and raise their family. He worked in construction, farmed most of his life, was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in WWII.
survivors include: two sons, John E. Pope Jr., of Jenkins, and Kent Pope and his wife, Connie, of Jenkins; one daughter, Patricia Hall, of Jenkins; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held on Thursday at the Clay Hill Cemetery in Madry. Dr. Mark Shaffer officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of the White Funeral Home, Cassville.
