John Pope Sr., 84, of Jenkins, passed away at his home on Sept. 3, 2007.
He was born on July 19, 1923, the son of John and Ehtel (Coffelt) Poper, in Wilson, Okla. On Sept. 4, 1946, he married Annie Pope in Inyokern, Calif. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2007. They moved to the Jenkins area in 1953 from Galveston, Texas, to make their home and raise their family. John worked in construction, farmed most of his life, was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in WWII.
Additional survivors include: two sons, John E. Pope Jr., of Jenkins, and Kent Pope and his wife, Connie, of Jenkins; one daughter, Patricia Hall, of Jenkins; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the Clay Hill Cemetery in Madry with Dr. Mark Shaffer officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri.
