Golf tourney to benefit senior centers

Thursday, August 23, 2007

The Cassville and Shell Knob Senior Centers are jointly sponsoring a two-person scramble golf tournament on Friday, Sept. 21 at Cassville Golf Club. The tourney is open to all area golfers and is a major fundraiser for both centers.

The tourney will be an 18-hole scramble with men's and women's flights. Play will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

Prizes and flights will be based on the number of entries. Each golfer will receive gift sacks and there will be a chance to win the $10,000 hole-in-one contest. Additional prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin and straightest drive. The entry fee is $50 per person. Individual or team sign-ups are now being taken at the Cassville Golf Club's pro shop or can be completed on-line at www.cassvillegolfclub.com. The entry deadline is Sept. 14.

Business and corporate sponsorships are also being sought for the tournament. If they are interested in helping out and would like additional information, they should contact Mike Wood in Cassville, at 846-4021 or Jerry Arnold in Shell Knob at 417- 858-6952.

All profits from the tournament will be equally divided between the Cassville and Shell Knob centers.

In case of inclement weather, the tournament will be held on Friday, Sept. 28.
