DOROTHY L. WILLIAMS

Dorothy L. Williams, 82, of Monett, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett. She was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Aurora, the daughter of the late Sam and Bertha (McCaslin) Shaffer. She married James (Pete) Williams on Jan. 19, 1973, in Miami, Okla. Pete preceded her in death on May 2, 2001.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monett.

Survivors include: one son, Johnnie Stricklin, of Pierce City; three stepsons, Ronnie Williams, of Aurora, Jimmy Williams, of Neosho, and Johnny Williams, of Licking; four daughters, Joyce Smith, of Harrisonville, Janie Higgins, of Rich Hill, Pamela Martin, of Carthage, and Etta May Doss, of Monett; one stepdaughter, Sheila Smith, of Moline, Ill.; five sisters, Sybel Jane Loyd, Mary Waltrip, Effie Rice, Lucy Waltrip and Lucinda Eden, all of Monett; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Carl Suttles and Wayne Stricklin, and one brother, George Shaffer.

Funeral services were held on Friday at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett. Burial was at Monett I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
