Kenneth "Ken" William Coatney, 66, of Aurora, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, in Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Sept. 12, 1940, in Eagle Rock, the son of William and Effie (Edwards) Coatney. On Nov. 12, 1981, he was united in marriage to Becky Hopkins, who survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Ken Coatney, Jr. and his wife, Misty, of Elk City, Kan., and Kent Coatney and his wife, Karin, of Longton, Kan.; one daughter, Kendria Schnug and her husband, Gary, of Elk City, Kan.; one brother, Ted Coatney and his wife, Karla, of Cassville; four sisters, Lela Cole, of Cassville, Alma Robbins and her husband, Marlan, of Exeter, Rita Stringer and her husband, Butch, of Eagle Rock, and Wilda Lee and her husband, Garry, of Cassville; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ova Hilburn, Vada Coatney and Viola Coatney and one brother, Dennis Coatney.
He received his education in Cassville and then served in the United States Navy. For nine years he was employed for Cessna in Wichita, Kan. Most of his life was spent in car sales, retiring as sales manager after 35 years in that business. He had been nationally recognized as sales person by G.M., Ford and Chrysler. He was a member of Roaring River Baptist Church and the bowling league.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Jerry Yarnall and Rev. Paul Yarnall conducted the services. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
