Charles Edward Carter 70, of Stella, was called to heaven on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville, Ark., following an illness.

He was born on July 14, 1937, in Stella, to the late Virgil Kenneth and Anna Marie (Pruitt) Carter. He married Rosemary Crosby on Oct. 25, 1957, at Miami, Okla., and to this union three children were born. He lived all of his life in Stella where he was a farmer. He was dedicated to his trade as contractor owning and operating CC Drywall Company for 20 years.

Survivors include: his wife of 49 years, Rosemary Carter, of the home; a son, Hank Carter and wife, Kim, of Stella; two daughters, Sandy Writer and husband, Doug, of Cassville, Mary Ann Hargrave and husband, Dan, of Nevada; three brothers, Virgil Carter and wife, June, of Rocky Comfort, Jim Carter and wife, Judy, of Rocky Comfort, Clero Carter, of Joplin; a sister, Doris Woodfill and husband, Harry, of Anderson; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday at the Walker-Dowd Funeral Home Chapel in Anderson. Rev. Frank Arnall officiated. Burial will follow the service at the Union Cemetery in Stella.
