Triathlon attracts record crowd

The Cassville YMCA held its second annual "Y" not "Tri" Sprint Triathlon this past Saturday, drawing a record number of participants.

The race, coordinated by Larry Boswell, YMCA program director, consisted of a 400-yard swim, a 15-mile bike ride and a three-mile run. There were 28 individual competitors and five teams competing in the event.

The top three competitors in each division and their respective times are listed below.

• 15- to 29-year-old male division: first place, Dustin Miller, of Carthage, 1:12:08; second place, Stephen O'Neal, Rogers, Ark., 1:17.12; and third place, Aaron Hamilton, Rogers, Ark., 1:20.18.

• 15- to 29-year-old female division: first place, Courtney Eufurd, Rogers, Ark., 1:18:22; second place, Danielle Cummins, Rogers, Ark., 1:33:14; and third place, Danielle David, Rogers, Ark., 1:38:41.

• 30- to 49-year-old male division: first place, Oscar Rodriguez, Alajuela, Costa Rica, 1:14:56; second place, Carlton Euford, Rogers, Ark., 1:20.41; and third place, Jesse Durossette, Exeter, 1:26.48.

• 30- to 49-year-old female division: first place, Becky Eufurd, Rogers, Ark., 1:27.43; second place, Diana Sheridan , Greenfield, 1:32.43; and third place, Becky Featherston, Rogers, Ark., 1:34.21.

• 50-plus male division: first place, Randy Featherston, Rogers, Ark., 1:15.51.

• 50-plus female division: first place, Lisa Mills, Rogers, Ark., 1:39.56.

• Team division: first place, Debbie O'Neal (swim) Bill Shiveley (bike) and Nick Schlichtman (run), 1:21.16; second place, Anna Porch, Dan Philbrick and Willie Linenbrink, 1:22.18; and third place, J.R. Mitchell, Austin Stephens and Dean Stephens, 1:31.06.

"We would also like to send out a special thanks to all volunteers and sponsors," said Boswell. "Thanks for making it a successful event."

This year's sponsors included Subway, Able 2 Products, Commerce Bank, Aire Serv, Willis Insurance, Lewis and Clark Outfitters and the City of Cassville.
