Charles Benjamin Crossland, 92, died Wednes-day, July 11, 2007, in Red Rose Inn of Cassville.

He was born Feb. 25, 1915, in Imboden, Ark., the son of Edward "Ed" and Ida (Ellis) Crossland. On Dec. 6, 1937, he was united in marriage to Helen Brattin, who preceded him in death on Nov.16, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, David; one grandson; three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include: one son, James William "Bill" Crossland and his wife, Carole, of Cassville,; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a step-great grandchild; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Edward Crossland and his wife, Betty, of Bates City; four sisters, Alice Rinker, of Aurora, Mary McKee, of Monett, Anna Maples, of Miami, Okla., and Viola Froses, of Monett.

He lived in Wheaton and worked for Empire Gas until he retired. He and Helen lived on the same farm for over 59 years and would have been married 68 years if she had lived until December. Graveside services were Friday at Muncie Chapel Cemetery, Wheaton, under the direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.
