Band Boosters appreciate support

Thursday, July 19, 2007

Dear Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the area residents who came out to support the Cassville Band this year by buying fireworks from us. This is the second year that we have sold fireworks to raise funds to help supplement the limited budget of the band department. Without the strong support from the community we would be extremely limited in that capacity.

I couldn't even start to list all the volunteers that made this possible; so many parents and students spent literally hours upon hours slaving away at the stands. There are a few business people that went above and beyond to make this year's fundraiser a success. Among them are: Mike Carr with Fastrip who donated lighters to us to sell; Mike Schlichtman with Baywash who donated car wash certificates for us to give away with $50 and $100 purchases; Carl Norton with the Butterfield Stage Stop who let us set our tent at his store and donated free chicken dinners and catfish dinners with $50 and $75 purchases; and Lee Schroeder from McDonald's who supplied us with orange drink and all the cups and ice we needed.

The school administration was also very supportive. And last, but definitely not least, our band directors, Mr. Lyons and Mr. Driskill, my fellow officers Renee Callahan, Ron Taylor and Dianne Shiveley. Each one spent a tremendous amount of time on this fundraising project.

This year will be a better year for the band, because of all the support from these individuals and everyone who came out and supported us. I would also invite anyone interested in the Boosters to come to our next meeting, Thursday, July 26 in the new high school band room.
