Fireworks will light up the night skies as area communities host Fourth of July celebrations with a variety of activities and events next week. Shell Knob, Eagle Rock and Seligman will each hold a fireworks display between July 2 and July 4.
Shell Knob will host its 32nd annual Fire and Thunder Fireworks on Wednesday, July 4.
"The Shell Knob Fire and Thunder Fireworks show is in its 32nd year and the longest running fireworks show on Table Rock Lake," said Tom Koob, Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce communications coordinator. "The show is free to view from water or land.
"The pyrotechnician is very professional," said Koob. "He has won international awards and travelled the world shooting fireworks. He also does the fireworks at the Springfield Cardinals games and will have exclusive shells for the Shell Knob show."
Fire and Thunder, which is sponsored by the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce, is known for its multiple bursts of large shells. The display will begin at around 9:30 p.m. Fireworks are fired from a location one mile east of the Shell Knob Bridge.
The fireworks can be viewed from any location with a clear view of the southwest side of Shell Knob Mountain. Traditional viewing sites also include locations along Highway YY.
In case of inclement weather, the display will be held on Thursday, July 5. Rain delay information will be broadcast on KOMC 100.1 and KRZK 106.3 radio.
Many area residents will also enjoy the fireworks show from their boats on Table Rock Lake. As hundreds of boats congregate east of the bridge, boaters are reminded that the buoyed area in front of the shooting site is off limits.
Fire and Thunder Fireworks is supported by the sale of Shell Knob T-shirts, which are available at many Shell Knob businesses. T-shirts will also be available on the water prior to the fireworks show. Additional donations are collected at area businesses.
In addition to the Fire and Thunder Fireworks show, the third annual boat parade will be held on Table Rock Lake next Wednesday.
Boaters will meet one mile west of the Central Crossing Bridge north of Lost Hill Island. Boaters are encouraged to decorate their vessels for the parade, which will begin at 9 a.m.
"Shell Knob has good restaurants and retail locations that can support your needs in order to have a great Fourth of July on Table Rock Lake," said Koob.

Eagle Rock will hold its annual Fireworks Over the Water show on Tuesday, July 3 at dark.
"This is an event that everyone has grown to look forward to," said Aaron Dalton, who organizes Fireworks Over the Water each year. "It is a family event for the community that offers a beautiful fireworks display over the water.
"We usually have between 150 and 200 boats," said Dalton. "The whole family can come out and enjoy a show that features around $12,000 worth of fireworks in about 30 minutes. It's very pretty and just a neat event for the community."
Fireworks Over the Water can be viewed from various locations around the Highway 86 bridge or the Eagle Rock Campground and Marina. There is no admission costs for the show, which is made possible through donations made by individuals and local businesses.
All fireworks fund donations are appreciated. Donations can be mailed to Eagle Rock Fireworks, P.O. Box 17, Eagle Rock, Mo., 65641. Donations can also be dropped off at Freedom Bank in Cassville or Seligman, Security Bank in Cassville and Eagle Rock Real Estate.
