Cassville is only a month away from a young teen invasion. The Missouri State Babe Ruth Baseball Tournament will once again be held in Cassville this summer.
The tournament is slated to begin July 25 and end on July 28. Games will be played at the Cassville Aquatic Center complex.
Organizers are expecting 100 to 150 ball players, ages 13 to 15, to be in town for the four-day tournament. The winner of the tournament will then go on to play in the Babe Ruth Midwest Regional at Boone, Iowa.
Teams and players will arrive on Wednesday, July 25 for the tournament's check-in with opening day festivities beginning the next day. Tournament events this year will include a cookout, face painting, games, candy, and a visit from Louie the Cardinal, the Springfield Cardinals' mascot.
Games will start at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 26 with elimination games beginning Friday.
Cassville will have at least one team in the tournament due to its hosting of the competition.
