Rocky Edmondson Park will be renovated

Friday, June 22, 2007

The Cassville R-IV School District is seeking federal grant funding to help renovate Rocky Edmondson Park. The district's grant application was approved at the state level but now must receive final approval from the National Park Service. The park property was deeded to the school district in January of 1979 by Bill and Hazel Edmondson in honor of their son, Major William "Rocky" Edmondson, USAF, who was listed as missing in action from the Vietnam War in 1966. The district is planning to renovate the existing pavillion, which is pictured above, behind the memorial to Rocky Edmondson, and repair several bridges on the property. School officials are also considering the construction of a second pavillion as well as the addition of more picnic tables and restroom facilities. Democrat Photo
