Myrtle M. Kennedy, 99, of Jenkins, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2007, in Red Rose Inn of Cassville.
She was born April 5, 1908, in Hale Center, Texas, the daughter of John and Mae (Miller) Hollacher. On July 12, 1924 in Olton, Texas, she was united in marriage to Earnest Kennedy, who preceded her in death in September 1983.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Dorothy Sams; one son, Floyd Kennedy; one brother, Lawrence; three sisters, Minnie, Lois and Ruth; one grandson, Michael Kennedy and one great-great grandson, Dustin Fisher.
Survivors include: three sons, Lester Kennedy and his wife, Norma, of Springlake, Texas, Donald Kennedy, of Lake of the Pines, Texas, and Dennis Kennedy and his wife, Georgia, of Lake of the Pines, Texas; one daughter, Virginia Shaffer, of Donaldson, Ark.; one brother, Raymond Hollacher, of Arvin, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
She received her education in Springlake and West Side Schools in Texas. She and Earnest farmed in Texas, raising cotton and crook neck maize. In 1951 they moved to Jenkins, where they built their own house and raised livestock. She was a member of the Cato Church of Christ.
Funeral services were Saturday, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Dr. Jim Kerr conducted the services. Burial was at Clio Cemetery, Jenkins.
