Darrell Gene Yocom, 73, of Eagle Rock, passed away Friday, June 1, 2007, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.
He was born June 8, 1933, in Ames, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Ona (Clay) Yocom. On Aug. 6, 1955, in Nevada, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Ruth Pierce, who survives.
Additional survivors include: three sons, Jerry Dean Yocom and his wife, Katie, of Black Hawk, Colo., Stephen Gene Yocom, of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Gary Lynn Yocom and his wife, Lucie, of Sandpoint, Idaho; two brothers, Willis Yocom, of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Max Yocom, of Llewellyn, Neb.; and five grandchildren.
He received his education in Iowa. On March 5, 1951, he entered the United States Marine Corps, serving until March 4, 1954. He then moved back to Iowa, where he worked as a carpenter and was employed with A-build Construction, several years. During his life time he lived in Colorado, where he was an elk and deer hunting guide and he was also a fishing guide while in Canada. he moved to Eagle Rock about 17 years ago to make his home.
Memorial services will be held in Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, Eagle Rock.
Cremation was under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
