CMS Ladycat track team finishes up season

The Cassville Middle School Ladycats, coached by Mandi Henry, ended their track season recently and wrapped up with a second and fourth place finish in the Big 8 Conference meet.

The seventh grade girls placed second overall and placed in 19 different positions.

Danielle Pianalto led the young Ladycats. Pianalto took three firsts. She won the 100-meter race with a time of 13.52, won the 200-meter race with a time of 28.28 and wrapped up the triple crown with a 28'11" jump for the triple jump.

Calisia Brookes also did well. She garnered second place in the 100-meter race and the long jump. Sara Byler took third in the 400-meter race, fifth in the 200-meter race and fifth in the high jump. Jamie Everett's toss of 30'2.5" earned her first place in the shot put, and she also took fifth in the long jump. Cari Vollenweider finished third in the shot put and fourth in the discus throw while sister Kelsi took second in the discus throw and sixth in the shot put. Kelsi also competed in the high jump. Ashley Batsche finished sixth in the 100-meter race and 75-meter hurdles. Other competitors included: Rebecca Haney, 200-meter race and long jump; Haylee Stockton, 75-meter hurdles and triple jump; Jordan Ragland, 1600-meter race; and Amanda Holder, 800-meter race.

The 400-meter relay team took first with a time of 55.59 seconds, which is just two seconds off the fastest high school girls time this season. The 1,600-meter relay team garnered third place, while the 800-meter relay team finished fourth.

The short-handed eighth grade team, six members in all, did very well at the Big 8 meet, finishing in fourth place.

Risa Darveaux led the way. She took first in the 100 meter race with a time of 13.31 seconds. She also took first in the high jump, clearing 4'8" to garner the conference award. Darveaux also added a second place finish in the 200-meter race to top off her day. Emily Pry took fourth in the 400-meter race for the Ladycats. Kendal Craig finished in sixth in the triple jump and also competed in the long jump and 200-meter race. Janine Donell competed in both the 75-meter hurdles and the long jump. Katherine Hoff competed in the 100-meter race, and Wolf competed in the 75-meter hurdles.

The team's 800-meter and 400-meter relay teams both finished second at the meet.
