• Purdy keeps on soaring. The Eagles beat a future district opponent in Pierce City 4-2. Derek Dailey picked up the win, giving up one run and striking out five. Trent Goetz led the offense, hitting two-for-four with two RBI.

The Eagles also took on Galena this week. Purdy's bats caught fire early and after an 11-run first inning the Bears could not catch up. Purdy won the game 15-0 in five innings. Corey Moller pitched a shut-out in which he had nine strikeouts. Ryan Veith had two hits in the contest and three RBI.

To finish out the week Purdy played a very tough Clever team. The Eagles played well but were edged out 3-2. Mason Roller started on the mound for the Eagles. He had seven strikeouts with only two earned runs. Blake Williams went one-for-two with two RBI.

The Eagles are now 13-8 and will play in the Class 2 District 10 tournament this week held at Purdy.

• Trojans struggle against Hurley. Southwest played a non-conference game at Hurley. Josh Hartin could not contain the home team's offense as he started on the mound and Hurley won 16-0. Hartin led Trojan batters by garnering two hits.
