Orval Vincent Roberts, 86, of Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of Rocky Comfort, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007, in Mercy Medical Center Dubuque.

He was born Sept. 30, 1920, in Conway son of the late Loys Vivian and Edna Pearl (Hammond) Roberts.

He was a member of Prosperity Southern Baptist Church, VFW Post 5219, American Legion, Circuit Riders (wheelchair club), and the Rocky Comfort Redevelopement Committee.

He was a retired consulting engineer for Shive-Hattery Associates. He served in the Merchant Marines in World War II.

Survivors include: 3 sons, Ronald Roberts of Dubuque, Iowa, Ruben Roberts and wife JoAnn, of Peosta, Iowa, Roland Roberts and wife, Kim, of Iowa City, Iowa; two daughters, Saundra Payne, of Dubuque, Iowa, and Gail Wallace and husband, Ken, of Duluth, Minn., one sister, Yvonne Fuller, of Wheaton; 13 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty June (Crummett) Roberts, his parents, and one son Gary Roberts.

Services were held at Prosperity Southern Baptist Church, Thursday at with Rev. George Gore officiating.

Interment followed in the Rocky Comfort Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the care of Wheaton Funeral Home.
