Francis Galbraith, 84, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2007.

Francis was born June 9, 1922, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Hall Galbraith and Elizabeth Hner Galbraith. He attended Ward High School, Kansas City Junior College and S.E. Missouri State in Cape Girardeau. He enlisted in the Navy, where he spent three years and nine months and was discharged as a Lt. J.G. He received the Purple Heart Medal and other commendations during World War II. He returned to finish his education at Kansas University, from which he received his B.S. and M.S. degrees. He met and married the former Mary Ann VanBecelaere. He taught all sports at the Old Redemptorist High School, later moving to North Kansas City, Mo. High School. He coached varsity baseball and football line coach, before becoming varsity head coach in 1956. In 1967, he became assistant principal at North Town until retirement in 1982. Mr. Galbraith was a private man. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed life and a sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and son, Kevin Galbraith.

Survivors: Wife, Mary Ann Galbraith; son, Randy Galbraith of Reeds Spring, Mo.; daughter, Sandra Ann Tarpley and her husband, Jim of Fort Worth, Texas.
