John David Skelton, 78, of Cassville, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2007, at his home, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on June 4, 1928, in the Mineral Springs community, the son of Joseph and anna Cooper Skelton. He lived in the Barry County area until he left for the service. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U. S. Navy. Following his discharge, he lived in various parts of the United States before returning to Cassville in 1969. He was a self-employed truck driver and carpenter. he also drove a Cassville School Bus for several years. He was a member of the Mineral Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sons, David Skelton and his wife, Mary, of Neffs, Ohio, and Donald Skelton and his wife, Becky, of Sardis, Ohio; two daughters, Patty Kocher and her husband, Danny, of Jacobsburg, Ohio, and Calista Robinson and her husband, Tony, of Cassville; two step-sons, Doug Hinds, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Glenn Hinds, of Butterfield; one step-daughter, Sissy Schroeder and her husband, Milton, of Webb City; one sister, Thelma Sisney, of Leedy, Okla.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nine step-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Orville, Cecil, George, and Donald Glenn, and one grandson, Chris Skelton in 1999.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the White Funeral Home in Cassville, with Rev. Milford Baker officiating. Burial was at Mineral Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Fisher, Ted Matthews, Michael Bohanan, Clay Skelton, Milton Schroeder, Doug Hinds, Dale Bowman, and Chuck Bowman.
Memorials may be made to the Mineral Springs Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home, Cassville.
