Mrs. Ella Dean Volkl, 73, of Monett, passed away Friday, April 6, 2007, at Lacoba Nursing Home, Monett, after a long illness. She ws born March 2, 1933, in Verona, the daughter of the late Arthur and Esther (Brandy) Peterson.

She was a former owner of the Dairy Queen in Mt. Vernon. She married Carl Volkl Dec. 21, 1973, in Joplin and he preceded her in death in 2000.

Survivors include: three sons, Stanley Holle, of Cassville, of Cassville, Larry Holle, of Monett, and Ricky Holle, of Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Glenda Enlow, of Aurora; two stepsons, Charlie Volkl, of Stotts City, and Joe Volkl, of Los Angeles, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Mary Roberton, of Republic, and Ann Davidson; two brothers, Darrell Peterson, of Pottsborough, Texas, and Howard Peterson, of Monett; two sisters, Mary Couch, of California, and Imogene Blaylock, of Monett.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur Peterson, Edgar Peterson and John Peterson; and one sister Orba Finney; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett, with Rev. Jimmy Copley officiating. Burial was at Spring River Cemetery in Verona.
