Derek Anthony Ward, 34, of Shell Knob, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2007, at his home.

He was born Oct. 13, 1972, in Overland Park, Kan. He graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School and received a bachelor of science in biology from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kan. He worked for Denesco Company in Gardner, Kan., and Degraffenreid Pickle Company in Springfield, as a food analyst. Derek had visited Shell Knob, Missouri his whole life and always wanted to live on Table Rock Lake. He moved here two years ago and worked for the Shell Knob Lawn Service.

survivors include: his parents, Oren and Lynn Ward of Shell Knob, and sister, Wendi Hines and husband, Mark, of Parkville. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Mabel Ward, of Shell Knob.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) in Central Community United Methodist Church, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Rev. Dean Wilson conducted the services.
