Edna Mae Smith, 91, of Exeter, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007, in her home.

She was born Dec. 14, 1915, in Luray, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Kerr) Benda. On March 27, 1937, in Memphis, Mo., she was united in marriage to Edwin E. Smith, who preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronald Smith; one granddaughter and one great granddaughter.

Survivors include: one son, Robert Smith and his wife, Betty Jo, of Luray; three daughters, Patti Smith, of Wheaton, Carolyn Nelson and her husband, Howard Lee, of Exeter, and Sandra Moore of Rogers, Ark.; a sister, Ruth Flannelly, of Hot Springs, Ark.; nine grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.

She received her education in Memphis. She moved to Texas and lived in Carrollton, Texas, for 33 years. In 1959, she moved to Barry County to make her home. Edna was a founder and secretary and treasurer of the Community Faith Church in Cassville for 20 years.

Graveside services were held today (Wednesday) in Longview Cemetery, Purdy, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Doyle Russell and Terry LaSalle conducted the service. Contributions may be made to Community Hospice in her memory.
