Elmer Wallace Bounous, 87, of Monett, passed away Monday, March 19, 2007, at Cox South in Springfield. He was born Sept. 6, 1919, in Monett, the son of the late John Bert and Mary Balmas Bounous.

He was retired from MFA Fertilizer Plant in Monett and also was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Waldensian Presbyterian Church, Monett. He was married to Clara Bella Bounous on Oct. 8, 1944, in Mt. Vernon, and she survives.

additional survivors include: six sons, Elmer Bounous Jr., of Springfield, Edward Bounous, of Spokane, Wash., Gary Bounous, of Bullhead City, Ariz., John Bounous and Donald Bounous, both of Monett, Ronald Bounous, of Pierce City; one daughter, Christine Thomas, of Reeds; two sisters, Louise Cook, of Caseyville, Ill., and Betty Swartz, of Blackwell, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Bounous and Albert Bounous, and one sister, Josephine Henderson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett, with Vicki Evans officiating. Burial will be at Waldensian Cemetery, Monett.
